Description The historic marina is our setting for the Swansea Memory Walk this year. Whoever you walk for, come and help us fundraise for people with dementia in your area. As we work to find a cure, get your friends, family and work colleagues involved and come along.
With two walks on the day, there’s something for everyone. The 2k Memory Walk goes round the pretty marina and along a short stretch of breezy seafront. Or take the 10k walk in your stride and continue along the bay towards the Mumbles, passing through woodland before turning at Black Pill Lido for the return leg.
But if walking’s not your thing enjoy the event area, too, with plenty of entertainment and refreshments on hand throughout the day. We’ve got lots in store including a children’s entertainer and a yummy cake sale. Don’t miss our gym instructor warm up, either!
As both our walks are on flat, tarmac paths they are accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs alike. Keep your dogs on a lead and children with you at all times. Also as the paths we’ll be using are in a shared public space, keep to the left to let cyclists pass.
How to get there: Car: Take the junction 42 exit on the M4 and follow the brown signs for the National Waterfront Museum. If you’re travelling from the city centre, the event area is located on Oystermouth Road next to the LC, Swansea’s Leisure Complex.
Bus: Swansea’s main bus terminus (Quadrant) is approximately 5 minutes walk from Museum Park. Follow signs for Maritime Quarter and National Waterfront Museum. For the latest information and nearest stops visit www.firstgroup.com.
Train: Swansea High Street Train station is approximately 10mins by foot from Museum Park. From station turn left and continue down High Street to Castle Gardens. From Castle Gardens, continue along Princess Way until you reach Museum Park.
Cycle: Swansea has several major cycle routes passing through it, for more information about these and where to lock up your bikes visit www.swansea.gov.uk/cycling
